The HIGAMA rootstock was obtained through selection among peach seedlings imported from Japan and grown in France since 1960. It has high vigor and ensures uniform plant development in nursery conditions.
This rootstock is susceptible to crown gall, Phytophthora, and is sensitive to certain types of nematodes and viruses. Compared to other common rootstocks, the use of HIGAMA can lead to lower cumulative yield indices of grafted trees.
