The variety is an ornamental shrub or tree 3–4 meters in height with a crown width of about 2.5 meters. The plant has a spreading crown shape and deciduous leaves, which are medium-green in summer and turn bright red shades in autumn.
The flowering period occurs in March–April. The flowers are double, 3–5 cm in diameter, and crimson-red in color. The plant is not fruit-bearing: it either does not form fruit, or it is too small and has no consumer value.
Like other representatives of the genus Prunus, the variety is susceptible to fungal diseases, such as moniliosis and stigmina leaf spot.
