The Springold variety is an early yellow-fleshed peach, with fruits that are of the clingstone type (the pit does not separate from the flesh). Under the climatic conditions of the southeastern United States, its maturity date occurs 30–35 days earlier than the Redhaven variety.
Under the commercial name Spring Gold, trees are sold that are above average vigor, reaching 4–4.5 meters with a spreading crown. The fruits have an elongated shape, a bright red blush over a yellow background, and a mass of 120 to 260 grams, with the pit also separating poorly.
Spring Gold trees are characterized by high yield with the onset of fruiting in the 3rd–4th year and good transportability. The variety possesses high winter hardiness and resistance to spring frosts, but depending on agrotechniques, it can show susceptibility to powdery mildew and leaf curl.
