The variety belongs to the species Prunus salicina Lindl. The tree is medium-sized, reaching a height of 3.5–4.5 meters. It possesses frost resistance down to -31°C and requires protection from cold winds due to its early flowering period.

Fruits are medium-sized, purple-red in color. The flesh is amber with red veins, tender, very juicy, and has a sweet taste with moderate acidity. The harvest matures in mid-to-late June or early July.

The variety is self-fertile, although planting pollinator trees is recommended for stable fruiting. Beauty plum itself is considered an excellent pollinator for other Japanese plum varieties.
