The variety is a local genotype that is genetically distinct from the commercial variety Rocha and forms a separate branch in the genealogical tree of Portuguese pears.

In scientific research, the variety appears among samples tested for susceptibility to fire blight, however, a detailed description of agronomic characteristics and fruit quality is absent in open sources.
