The variety is an induced mutant obtained by chronic gamma-irradiation of the original «Nijisseiki» variety. In most agronomic traits, it is identical to the parent form, with the exception of maturity dates and disease resistance.
The fruits possess high consumer qualities. A key feature of the variety is its resistance to black spot caused by the fungus Alternaria alternata, to which the original variety is extremely susceptible. The variety has an S-genotype of S2S4 and is used in scientific research on fruit formation and metabolic processes.
