The medium-sized tree reaches a height of 2.5–5 meters and has an upright growth habit. The variety is partially self-fertile; cross-pollination with other Asian pear varieties is recommended to increase yield.

The medium-sized fruits have thin skin and white, sweet flesh with a slight acidity. The crop ripens at the end of August. With proper storage, the fruits can maintain their quality for up to five months; the variety is intended for fresh consumption.

The variety is winter hardy and resistant to a number of diseases, however, it shows susceptibility to fire blight and codling moth damage. Flowers can suffer from spring frosts. Mutant forms of the variety exist, such as Gold Nijisseiki, with increased resistance to black spot.
