The Champagne Rood variety is a plant with moderately thin, fairly strongly ribbed, and moderately straight stalks. In terms of taste characteristics, it is considered sweeter than large green rhubarb varieties.

The variety belongs to the mid-early maturity group. Due to extremely low productivity, it has not become widespread in industrial production and is currently included in lists of rare varieties that require conservation.
