Variety description

The plant reaches a height of about 150 cm and is characterized by long, fleshy red-colored petioles, which may have a light green hue at the base of the leaf blade. The petioles have a pronounced sour taste, are used in cooking, and contain vitamins C, A and mineral salts.

The variety is frost-resistant and low-maintenance, wintering well in the soil. Prefers fertile, moist soils. The recommended planting scheme is 1x1 m. To maintain productivity, it is recommended to remove summer flower stalks, and harvesting begins from the second year of life.

In retail, the variety is sold as seeds. With this method of propagation, offspring may be heterogeneous in their characteristics, therefore selection of the best specimens is recommended. Rhubarb leaves are poisonous; only the petioles are consumed.
