Rheum palmatum is a large perennial herbaceous plant with a height of 1.5 to 3 meters. It features large palmate leaves, the width and length of which range from 40 to 100 cm. During the flowering period, occurring in May-June, paniculate inflorescences form with small pink, cream, or reddish flowers.
The plant is characterized by winter hardiness and is capable of withstanding temperatures down to -20°C. Unlike culinary species, it is valued for its architectural appearance and powerful root system, which is used in medicine. Good soil drainage is important when growing, as its absence may lead to root rot.
