The variety is part of the "Ben" breeding series and was intended for the needs of the food industry, in particular for the supply of products under the Ribena brand. The ripening times of the variety allow it to be used in conveyor harvesting schemes, while it ripens earlier than the "Ben Starav" variety.
The plant has low susceptibility to gray mold (Botrytis). The variety has a pronounced need for a dormancy period at low temperatures, which limits its successful cultivation in regions with mild climates.
The berries are characterized by their suitability for industrial processing. The variety is often used as a reference object in scientific studies of biochemical composition, including the content of anthocyanins and flavonols.
