The variety was obtained as a result of a breeding program including crosses of Ben Lomond and hybrids involving Seabrook's Black and Amos Black. The plant forms a vigorous or medium-vigorous bush 1.2–1.6 m in height with a compact upright habit, making it suitable for mechanical harvesting.
The fruits ripen in early August, are medium-sized, and have a rich sweet-and-sour taste. The variety possesses high field resistance to American gooseberry mildew and medium resistance to anthracnose, however, it is susceptible to white pine blister rust.
The produce of the variety is used for the production of juices and concentrates, and is also suitable for fresh consumption and home processing.
