The variety is the parental form for the mutant 'Westra', which has a more upright bush habit. 'Westwick Choice' itself does not have a markedly upright bush form.
The plant is susceptible to a number of viral diseases and infestation by the big bud mite. The specific manifestation of disease symptoms makes it difficult to use the variety as an indicator.
In comparative studies of fruit quality, the variety demonstrates a high vitamin C content. Currently, it is practically not used in commercial horticulture due to replacement by more productive and resistant cultivars.
