The plant is a powerful, vigorous, and spreading shrub with a height of 1 to 3 meters. The shoots are highly thorny, with long spines grouped in 2–3. The berries are medium-sized and resemble gooseberries in shape, changing color from green to dark red and almost black during the ripening process.

The variety is mid-season or mid-late, with the harvest ripening from mid-July to August. Fruiting begins from the third year after planting, with a yield of approximately 3–5 kg per bush. The plant is distinguished by good overall disease resistance, in particular to American powdery mildew.

The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, making jams, preserves, jellies, desserts, use in baking, and for the production of beverages. Due to the high prickliness and the powerful form of the bush, the plant is often used to create protective hedges.
