The redcurrant variety REDWING was obtained by crossing 'Red Lake' × (Ribes longeracemosum × Ribes multiflorum). The plant forms a vigorous upright bush. The variety belongs to the extremely late-maturing group and produces relatively long clusters with dark red fruits.
This variety shows its best qualities when trained as a cordon, i.e., grown as one or more shoots on a trellis or against a wall. At present, the variety has practically fallen out of widespread use.
