Varieties of the Turbo group are obtained through breeding work and are characterized by intensive growth, exceeding traditional species by 50%. The plants are distinguished by a straight trunk shape, which improves the quality of commercial timber, as well as increased tolerance to drought, pollution, and low soil fertility.

The timber of these varieties possesses high natural durability and resistance to biological damage. The rotation cycle until harvest is 15–20 years. For effective growth, the trees require a rainfall level of 300 mm per year, the absence of a high water table, and specific soil parameters regarding pH and CaCO3 content.
