The variety is a deciduous dwarf shrub or small tree with characteristic zigzag shoots, giving the plant architectural ornamental value. The height varies from 2.5 to 7 meters depending on the training method.
The leaves are dark green, odd-pinnate, with curled leaflets, turning yellow in autumn. Flowering is rare, accompanied by the appearance of small clusters of fragrant white flowers.
The plant is drought-tolerant, tolerates various soil types, and has winter hardiness within USDA zones 3–8. There are reports of potential susceptibility to stem pests and scale insects.
