The variety Mormorshallon (synonym Herberts Mormor) is a traditional plant cultivated since the 19th century. The plant reaches a height of 1.5–2 meters, characterized by moderate growth and the ability to withstand competition with weeds. It is recommended to tie the canes to a support to ensure yield.
The berries are of medium size, round shape, and dark red color. It is a summer-bearing variety, with the harvest ripening from July to August on second-year canes. The fruits are used fresh, for making desserts, juices, and for freezing.
The plant is self-fertile. For cultivation, sunny sites protected from wind with moist, humus-rich soils with a low pH level are preferred. After harvesting, it is recommended to prune the canes that have borne fruit.
