The Leśniczanka variety was bred at the Horticultural Research Station in Brzezna as part of a breeding program to create varieties adapted to local climatic conditions. Scientific research on the variety focuses on the analysis of the composition of polyphenols, anthocyanins, ellagitannins, and flavan-3-ols in the fruits.
The main anthocyanin in the fruits of the variety is cyanidin-3-O-glucoside. Morphological observations conducted from 2011 to 2013 showed that the variety stands out with the highest number of leaves per shoot compared to a number of other blackberry varieties.
