The plant is an annual, reaching a height of 1 to 2 meters. During development, it forms a basal rosette and a subsequent flowering stem. The flowering period of the variety occurs in June–July.

The variety is intended for the pharmaceutical industry for the purpose of obtaining fruits containing a complex of flavonolignans known as silymarin. The composition of the seeds also notes the presence of deoxy-derivatives of silymarin components called silymiran.
