The variety is an annual plant with an erect, highly branched stem having a ribbed surface and coarse pubescence. Plants reach a significant height, ensuring effective soil cover.

Bardena possesses nematode resistance properties, particularly to the beet cyst nematode, and high adaptability to various soil and climatic conditions. The variety demonstrates increased resistance to lodging and periodic droughts, as well as high productivity of green and dry matter.

The plant is used as an intermediate crop, in scientific research on allelopathic properties, and as a component of mixed sowings to attract beneficial insects.
