The variety is mentioned in Danish agronomic publications of the 1960s as an English strain of white mustard. At that time, its seed yield was compared with other varieties, but detailed morphological and qualitative characteristics have not been preserved in open sources.

In the 1980s, Bixley was used in scientific research as a test plant for studying the effects of herbicides and growth regulators, as well as in the analysis of plant resistance to pesticide wash-off by rainfall.
