The variety is characterized by high stability and lodging resistance, while being susceptible to nematodes. Plants are capable of reaching a height of 100 to 130 centimeters depending on growing conditions.

Pirat is used as a green manure in various crop rotations, including cereal crops and maize, and is suitable for mulch seeding. Rapid growth at initial stages ensures effective weed control, and the developed root system promotes the accumulation and retention of nitrogen in the soil.
