The Valiant variety was derived from parental forms Trico and Tilney. The variety is oriented toward seed production.

During trials, the variety showed seed yield at the level of the control variety Savor. It is distinguished by an increased content of crude protein in seeds and a reduced oil yield compared to the control.

In current agronomic sources, the variety is more often mentioned in the context of historical lists or genetic collections as an example of earlier breeding.
