Longue d’Avignon eggplant, also known as Violette longue d’Avignon, is an heirloom variety prevalent in southeastern France since the 19th century. It belongs to the group of varieties with elongated fruits, characterized by a light purple or moderately purple color.
The variety is valued for its hardiness and ability to adapt to local growing conditions. Currently, it is used primarily in small-scale production and amateur gardening, being of interest as a genetic resource of traditional vegetable crops.
