Solanum tuberosum L. Potato · Agricultural · bred by The New Zealand Institute For Plant & Food Research Ltd.

Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety forms heavier but less numerous tubers due to the stimulation of tuberization by short stolons. High solar radiation use efficiency and tuber capacity contribute to intensive crop filling.

The plant has a tendency to form a small number of stems, which can lead to tuber overgrowth in size. In agronomic practice, growth regulators, such as gibberellic acid, can be used to optimize tuber size distribution.

The variety is commercial and used primarily in the processing industry, in particular for the production of French fries. In scientific literature, it is used as a model for studying mechanisms of yield formation and dry matter distribution.
