The Bolesta variety was obtained as a result of breeding work by the company Kartoffelzucht Böhm GmbH & Co. KG. Genetically, it is linked to the crossing of breeding lines 1345/77/2565 and the Agria variety. In breeding practice, the variety is used as a parental component in the creation of other potato varieties, including Dicolora and Mustang.
In agronomic practices, the variety is known for its resistance to the effects of certain metribuzin-based herbicides. In scientific research dedicated to the study of protein composition, Bolesta is classified in the same group as the varieties Marifona, Diamant, and Bright.
