The variety was bred by the SCRI breeding institute in Scotland. It is widely known in scientific literature as an object for genetic research, comparative trait analysis, and the study of phytopathology, including work on microsatellite markers and the assessment of genetic diversity.
UPOV technical documentation contains information on the morphological traits of the light sprouts of this variety, in particular the pubescence of their base. The variety is characterized by susceptibility to certain viral diseases that cause leaf roll and rosetting.
