The variety was bred at the Scottish Crop Research Institute (SCRI). Its pedigree is based on a cross between varieties Maris Peer and 3146A(3).
Glamis potato tubers have red skin. The variety was studied for use in the processing industry, in particular, its starch characteristics and viscosity profiles depending on growing conditions were examined.
The variety is listed in the national registry — its seeds are authorized for sale in this country.
