The Jaka variety is a product of Slovenian breeding. In modern practice, it is characterized as obsolete and limited in use due to insufficient resistance to a number of diseases compared to new varieties.
Currently, the gene pool of the variety is maintained in specialized genetic resource collections in the form of in vitro cultures, microtubers, as well as by growing plants in greenhouses and on field plots.
