The Sweet Virginia variety belongs to the group of forage sorghum varieties and carries the bmr gene, which determines the presence of a brown midrib on the leaf. This genetic trait contributes to a reduction in the lignin level in the stems, which improves forage quality for animals.

During studies, the variety demonstrated a high dry matter yield, reaching 17.12 t/ha, and digestibility indicators of up to 720.4 g/kg of dry matter. The variety's yield is directly related to plant height and the proportion of stem to total plant mass.
