The variety Szegedi 1023 belongs to the technical sorghum type. Its main purpose is the production of brooms and brush products.

During studies, the variety showed high sensitivity to drought and osmotic stress. Its allelopathic potential was also noted; tests showed the absence of significant inhibitory influence on the germination of white mustard seeds. The variety is used in ecological variety testing networks to evaluate productivity.
