The plant forms a large, semi-erect or spreading rosette. The leaves are dark green, elongated-oval or spear-shaped, have a fleshy, tender texture and a slightly blistered or "semi-savoy" surface.

The variety is mid-early, with a vegetation period of 25 to 60 days. The plant possesses high cold hardiness, however, when grown in long-day conditions, it is prone to early bolting. The produce is suitable for fresh consumption, freezing, canning, and harvesting at the "baby leaf" stage.
