The shrub reaches a height of 2–3 meters and has a dense, leafy crown. The leaves are heart-shaped and reach up to 10 cm in length.

The flowers are purple-violet in color with dark buds upon opening. The inflorescences are large and pyramidal in shape. A characteristic feature is the visual effect of "pearls" on the tips of the petals of the inner corolla, which appear bleached.

Flowering occurs from late May to early June. The plant begins to bloom 3–4 years after planting; flower buds are formed on the shoots of the previous year.
