The variety carries the Rht8 semi-dwarf gene. Historically, the variety was widely cultivated in Italy, and in the 1970s it also became widespread in Turkey.
Compared to modern high-intensity varieties, Conte Marzotto grain has lower hardness and lower milling resistance. The rheological properties of the dough and the chemical composition of the flour, including starch and fiber content, show distinctive indicators when using a roller milling system.
