The Devon variety is used in breeding programs to create new varieties of spring soft wheat, such as Likamero and Kalikso. It is also used in studies on genetic diversity and grain quality.

The plant possesses resistance to lodging. In breeding practice, the variety has been utilized for work aimed at increasing wheat resistance to powdery mildew at the seedling stage.
