The soft wheat variety Edda has the pedigree Rieti / Wilhelmina // Akagomughi. This variety is known as a result of the breeding work of Nazareno Strampelli in the early 20th century.
The name Edda also appears in agricultural documentation as a historic variety of six-row barley Hordeum vulgare L. In modern registers, the name may appear as part of the names of wheat varieties of different origin, for example, Smart Edda KWS.
