The Funo (Funo R. 210) variety was obtained by crossing the Italian varieties Duecentodievi and Damiano. It is a genetic ancestor of the Sumai 3 variety, which is considered the world standard for resistance to Fusarium.
The variety possesses confirmed molecular genetic loci for resistance to Fusarium head blight, such as Fhb7AC. In modern breeding, Funo is primarily considered as a donor of beneficial genes, rather than a production variety for mass sowing.
