The variety was developed in the UK based on the genetic line Cl 12633/4, crossed with Cappelle, Hybrid 46, and Professeur Marchal. The plant does not belong to semi-dwarf forms. In agronomic studies, it was characterized as a variety with low yield stability when growing conditions changed.
The variety was used as a reference in studies of resistance to pathogens and contains specific resistance genes, for example, Pm2. At the same time, in British reviews of the early 1980s, it was classified as a variety susceptible to a high degree of disease infection.
