The variety was created as part of a breeding program based on early introduced varieties, including Florence Aurore. The plant is of the semi-dwarf spring wheat type.
During studies of the variety, trials were conducted using the growth regulator chlormequat chloride to evaluate the effect on plant height and productivity. There are mentions of work on further improvement of the variety through re-selection.
