The variety is classified as early-maturing, ripening two days earlier than some other common varieties. Plant height is 80–90 cm.
The plant possesses partial resistance to leaf rust with slowed disease development. Resistance to winterkill in certain climatic conditions has also been noted.
The variety is used as source material for the creation of new breeding lines and hybrids, and is also used in genetic research, including the study of hybrid necrosis genes.
