The Ombu variety was bred by the Argentine company Buck Semillas S.A. Its genealogy is often cited in scientific publications as a component in the pedigrees of other wheat breeding lines.
Detailed agronomic characteristics, including data on maturity, plant height, and disease resistance, are not presented in open sources. The variety appears in experiments studying the interaction of plants with Azospirillum. In November 2018, the variety was removed from the Spanish commercial variety registry.
