The winter soft wheat variety named Sparta is mentioned in European agricultural research as a moderately resistant control when studying disease infestation. The variety shows signs of resistance to Fusarium head blight and the accumulation of mycotoxins such as zearalenone.
In agronomic trials, the variety is also classified as moderately resistant to Barley yellow dwarf virus. At the same time, complete morphological data describing plant height or exact maturity group are absent in available publications.
