The Weston variety is a commercial winter wheat variety used in breeding work as a genetic sample. It is known for having a specific 1BL.1RS composition and is used for studying disease resistance, in particular to yellow rust, as well as for researching genetic changes in crop breeding.
Closely related lines with different grain types, registered in international genetic resource databases, were obtained on the basis of this variety. Data on the economic-biological and morphological traits of Weston as a variety for mass agricultural production are absent in open sources.
