The variety is intended for cultivation in Mexico and is adapted to the El Bajío region. It is included in the national wheat collection of Mexico and is significant as a subject for the study of phytopathology.
The variety is known for being the last wheat variety in the country whose resistance was overcome by the stem rust pathogen Puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici. The genetic profile of the variety contains the leaf rust resistance gene combinations Lr27 and Lr31.
