The Alpidur variety is a fixed breeding line of durum wheat, which can also be classified as Triticum turgidum in botanical collections. In agronomic literature, it became known as a model for laboratory research on protein composition, including the study of high-molecular-weight glutenin subunits, as well as for evaluating the plant regeneration capacity in in vitro culture.

Currently, Alpidur is viewed by specialists primarily as genetic material or a resource, rather than as a commercial variety for large-scale agricultural production. Detailed morphological characteristics and specific production yield indicators are not described in available publications.
