The variety was obtained as a result of crossing the combination (Mex × Crane "S") with the variety Tito within the framework of a breeding program in Bari. It belongs to early-maturing varieties with an early heading period and high yield potential demonstrated under irrigation conditions.

In international scientific practice, the variety is recognized as an important genetic resource for the creation of molecular maps and the identification of quantitative trait loci responsible for grain quality. It is frequently used as a parental line in breeding programs to improve protein indicators.
