This spelt variety was obtained as a result of individual selection from a general population and is one of the most frequently cultivated varieties in Slovenia. The plants of this variety have no awns or appendages, and the ear is characterized by a white color.

The variety possesses good baking properties. When compared with other spelt varieties, such as Ebners Rotkorn and Ostro, it is noted that Murska bela may have a lower thousand kernel weight and lower protein content.
