Moru sardu, also known as Trigu moru, is a local population (landrace) of durum wheat. It has a number of regional synonyms, such as Trigu moru nieddu and Conca de moru. As a folk selection, this crop possesses genetic variability not characteristic of modern commercial varieties.
This wheat has been historically valued for stable grain quality and yield in the specific climatic conditions of the island. It is traditionally used in pasta production and for baking bread with specific crumb texture characteristics.
