The Pigreco variety is part of the breeding portfolio of the company Società Produttori Sementi S.p.A. (PSB) and is intended primarily for the pasta industry.

During grain quality studies using NIR spectroscopy, the variety showed a very high yellowness index (b* index on the CIELab scale). Detailed agronomic characteristics, including data on yield, morphology, and disease resistance, are not presented in open sources.
